Posted by bmb2025health on May 19, 2008

Amazing Fact: African American males living in Washington, D.C. have a lower life expectancy (57.9 years) than men in Bangladesh (58.1) and Ghana (58.3). The state of health for Black males in America is the worst of any group in the country. As startling as this statistic is, nothing will change without a massive amount of concerted community effort.

We’d like to know what you think the healthiest thing a Black male in 2008 can do. Share your ideas with us here. We’re looking for thoughtful discussion, and the most insightful, inspiring, penetrating answers will be featured on the main BMB site. Leave an answer!

The 2025 Campaign is leveraging the online world of social networks and user-generated content by setting up various BMB Satellites around the web, orbiting the home site at 2025bmb.org. This is the place where we’ll be leading the discussion of health issues that affect Black men and boys, overseen by Roundtable member Alford Young, Jr. of the University of Michigan. Dr. Young will be posting compelling and relevant topics for debate and commentary to this site, and we invite you to participate. Those who submit the liveliest and most insightful posts will be invited to extend their ideas in a more formal setting for feature on the main 2025 Campaign website. We will also feature edited versions of the best discussion threads!
